Eat a Balanced Diet
Nutrition is something that is key in performing well not only in your sports season but also in your life. As an athlete you must be careful of what you eat because certain foods can slow your body down and decrease your chances of performing to the best of your ability. It is always important to eat substantial amounts of carbs and proteins and vegetables. Avoid fast foods and sugar loaded foods because they just slow you down and don't break down well in your body. Being an athlete is hard work and if you don't eat right and take care of yourself then you will never be able to be 100% in anything you do.
Always Stay Hydrated
It is extremely important for an athlete to stay hydrated at all times. This means an athlete should be drinking water or electrolyte enhanced sports drinks before, during, and after physical activity. The human body is made up of 65% water, when we work out we sweat and lose that water so we must put it back into our systems or else we can dehydrate. Athletes should drink water constantly throughout the day and during physical activity switch to drinks such as gatorade or propel. These electrolyte enhanced beverages help replenish the salt loss in our body as well as rehydrates our system.
Always Remember to Stretch Your Muscles
Why is it important to stretch? Stretching loosens up your muscles and prevents fatigue. It also ensures that your muscles and tendons are in good working order. Stretching also helps prevent injuries by aiding recovery and also decreasing soreness after a work out.
